GLOSSARY

Quality score

Planning & Decision Process

IN PLAIN ENGLISH

The screener's 0–100 ranking of a result by its yield, size, stability and trading volume.

WHERE YOU MEET IT

Min quality score in the screener's filters, and the score on each result.

WATCH OUT FOR

It says nothing about valuation, debt or growth. A sorting aid, not a verdict.

FULL DEFINITION

A 0-100 composite ranking used by the Screener to order results by income, size, stability and liquidity.

EXAMPLE

A large, liquid utility yielding 5% with a beta of 0.6 scores highly; a small, volatile, non-paying stock scores near zero.

HOW IT'S CALCULATED

Quality Score = (0.35 × yield score + 0.30 × size score + 0.20 × stability score + 0.15 × volume score) × 100, rounded and clamped to 0-100. Each input is first normalised to a 0-1 scale against a fixed cap (yield is capped at 7%, and beta is inverted so lower volatility scores higher). Where the data provider supplies its own rating for a stock, that value is used in place of this calculation.
