1. Who we are

Squirrel Stocks Ltd is the controller for personal data collected through this website and app.

2. What we collect

When you create an account, we collect details such as your email address and authentication information.

When you use portfolio features, we store data you enter, such as holdings, transactions, and preferences.

We also collect technical usage data, such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and analytics.

If you have Investor Pro and choose to connect a bank account on the Portfolio page, we receive read-only access to that bank's cash accounts through TrueLayer, a regulated open banking provider. Bank linking is currently available for banks in the UK and Europe; we check whether it is available to you from your device's time zone and language, and your portfolio currency, and this information is not stored. We keep only each account's name, type, currency, and balance. We do not request transactions or account numbers, we do not store credit card, loan, or investment accounts, and we cannot make payments. The access token TrueLayer gives us is stored encrypted. For UK banks we pass your IP address to your bank when refreshing balances, as open banking rules require.

Bank access lasts until you disconnect it on the Portfolio page, revoke it with your bank, it lapses under open banking rules, or your plan no longer includes the feature. Disconnecting, leaving Investor Pro, or deleting your account revokes our access with TrueLayer and deletes the balances we stored.

If you link a property to its local house price index on the Portfolio page, we send the postcode you enter to postcodes.io, a free public postcode lookup, to find the property's council area. We save only that area's name, not the postcode, and we don't log it.

3. How we use data

We use data to operate and improve the service.

• Create and secure user accounts.
• Store and display your portfolio data.
• Respond to support requests.
• Detect abuse and maintain platform security.
• Measure product performance and reliability.

4. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking to measure how people find Squirrel Stocks and whether they sign up. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies for that measurement.

We use PostHog to understand how the site is used, including page views, feature clicks, and session replay (a recording of on-screen activity, not audio). This helps us find and fix problems and improve the product.

Our public pages, such as the Learning Hub, may show advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a person's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. To do this, Google and its partners may receive information such as your IP address, browser details, and the pages you view.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.com. Where required, we request consent before using non-essential cookies, including advertising cookies. You can manage cookie choices in your browser or consent controls.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with trusted providers that help us run the service, such as hosting, analytics, and support tools. Where advertising is shown, Google and its advertising partners collect information through cookies as described in section 4.

When you connect a bank, TrueLayer Limited processes your bank connection and login to provide the balances to us. TrueLayer's handling of that data is covered by its privacy policy at truelayer.com/privacy.

We may also disclose data when legally required or to protect rights, users, or the platform.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for service delivery, legal obligations, or dispute resolution.

You can request account deletion and we will process it according to applicable law.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to processing of your data.

8. International transfers

Your data may be processed outside your home country. When this happens, we apply safeguards required by applicable law.
