IN PLAIN ENGLISH
Which parts of the economy the fund's shares are in, such as technology or healthcare.
FULL DEFINITION
The industries a fund's shares are spread across, each as a percentage of the whole fund.
EXAMPLE
In a 60/40 fund with 30% of its shares in technology, Technology shows 18%: 30% of the 60% held in shares.
HOW IT'S CALCULATED
Each sector's weight in the fund's look-through ÷ the total of all its weights × 100. They are shares of the whole fund, not of its share portion, so a fund that also holds bonds adds up to less than 100% here. Bonds, cash and other assets are in Asset Mix instead, and the part of the fund the provider can't place in a sector is left out.
