IN PLAIN ENGLISH
An allocation chart — the Pie Chart set to Target sector allocation or Target asset-class split — that compares your ideal mix to what you actually hold: your stock portfolio by sector, or everything you own by asset class.
WHY IT HELPS
Highlights overweight and underweight sectors or asset classes so you can rebalance with intent.
HOW IT'S CALCULATED
Actual percent is sector value divided by total portfolio value, with each fund counted toward every sector it holds (as in the sector split), and a fund's bonds and cash under Bonds and Cash, which can be targeted too. Target percent comes from user inputs. Difference is actual minus target and is flagged as over or underweight (within 3 percentage points counts as on target). For the asset-class split, actual percent is each class's value ÷ the sum of all classes — the Balance Sheet's Total Assets, property at full value before its mortgage — and targets are the ones set for the Rebalancing widget's Asset classes mode. It waits until every class is valued rather than drawing a split that leaves a loading wallet, card or metal out, and the stock filter never applies to it.
